Donor Programs - O Neg Club
You have the best blood type there is: O Negative. O Neg is the "Universal Donor" blood type; ANYONE regardless of blood type can receive O Neg. This means in case of an accident, where there isn't time to find out a patient's blood type, O Neg is used. If there is a blood shortage and we run out of say AB+, then those patients can receive O Neg in its place. There is a down side, if your are O neg you can only receive O Neg, so O Negs have to provide for themselves AND everyone else in an emergency. About 8% of the population is type O Negative. Since we here at the Community Blood Bank ask you for more, its only fair that we give you more.
So in 2010, if you donate three times in a calendar year you will receive an O-Neg Club T-shirt. If you are kind enough to give life four times in a calendar year you will receive a a 4-Life T-shirt. In 2010, on your fifth trip in a calendar year, O-Neg donors will receive a Cobalt Blue Glass Coffee Mug. For the 6th time gift in 2010 donors will receive a cozy CBB fleece blanket.
