September Donor Newsletter

by Erika DePalma / Tuesday, 06 September 2016 / Published in Donor Newsletters

Labor Day: Increased Need & Plenty of Promotions!

With Labor Day right around the corner, we wanted to remind you that our Erie Donor Center is closed for the holiday and there will be no drives that day.

That means that the days leading up to and following the holiday are critically important to the blood supply. As you know by now, we are still at an increased need for all blood types, especially negative blood types. We’ll need all eligible donors to donate, so please help spread the word to friends & family who may be ready to donate as well!

Now ready for the fun news? September will be kicking off with 3 (yes, three!) different promotions for you to take advantage of!

The first will be the last weeks of the 1,000 Point Promotion, which began on May 17 and ends on September 17. If you haven’t already received your bonus points, don’t miss your chance! As a reminder, you will be automatically awarded your 1,000 points after your last qualifying donation during the promotion timeframe. Qualifying donations are: 1 Double-Red donation, 2 Whole Blood donations, or 4 Platelet donations.

The second promotion will run on Friday, Sept. 2 & Saturday, Sept. 3. All those who donate during those days will receive an American Flag pin, while supplies last.

And last but not least, from Sept. 1 through Sept. 13 donors will receive a commemorative t-shirt (see the image to the right for a preview of the design) when they donate. Shirts are while supplies last, be sure to get yours before they’re gone!

We’ve Said It Before & We’ll Say It Again: THANK YOU!

Thank you to everyone who answered our text message blasts, calls, emails and more! Thank you to everyone who heard our pleas and came out to donate during this month’s critical shortage. Thanks to you, patients at our local hospitals were able to receive their treatments. Lives were saved, and it’s all because of you.

Wondering why you didn’t hear from us or wishing you could hear from us in the ways that best suit you? Just head over to your Donor Portal and update your communications settings! To opt in for texting, just text the word BLOOD to 444999.

GR8 GIVERS

Thank you to our GR8 GIVERS groups from this month! We still have dates available for GR8 GIVERS in September & October! To reserve your date, or find our more information please contact Sara Macerata, Donor Services Assistant, at smacerata@fourhearts.org OR at (814) 456-4206.  As a reminder, GR8 GIVERS takes place year round, and groups can consist of family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, classmates or members of your church. Once your group of 8 (although more are always welcome!) have signed in and donated during your selected week, you’ll automatically be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card for breakfast or lunch for your group!

The Point Store

Congratulations to our $100 gift card winner in July! Interested in winning? One winner is selected at random from our point store drawing each month, you can enter as many times as you’d like each month OR you can redeem your points for something tangible like a coffee mug, t-shirt, or gift card. Your points are yours to use as you’d like, happy shopping!

Our inventory of gift cards is constantly changing. Don’t see what you want? Simply check back in a day or two!

And don’t forget, even if you haven’t created your Donor Portal account you are still earning points! Community Blood Bank staff is happy to assist you in creating an account or redeeming your points.

As a reminder, points are added once data entry is completed, which may be done the following day. If you don’t see your points increase after a day or two (or by Tuesday if you donated the previous Saturday) please call the blood bank at 1-877-842-0631. Donors earn points even if they have not created an online account.
