A New Way to Support CBB: Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community

Posted: February 19, 2016 9:16 am

For 50 years, when patients and their families have needed us we’ve been there, thanks to your blood and platelet donations. This year, we’re asking for your support in a different way.

For the first time ever, the Community Blood Bank is participating in the Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community on Saturday, June 4th at Presque Isle State Park. This walk allows us to fundraise and keep 100% of the profits, which will help us achieve a goal we think you’ll like: to purchase a second bloodmobile.

Why another bloodmobile? Aside from getting a friend for Gus, our current bloodmobile (yes, we named him. Don’t you name your vehicles?) Having a second bloodmobile will make it more convenient for you to give blood in your neighborhoods, schools and workplaces. That in turn ensures a more stable blood supply for family, friends and neighbors who may need it, not just in Erie Community but in all of the communities we serve. Last year, Gus collected 4,155 of your donations, imagine what we can do with another bloodmobile!

Ready to help? We’re looking for walkers, teams, and donations to make this a great success, so when you tell your friends and family how important being a Community Blood Bank blood or platelet donor is to you, be sure to ask them to support what’s important to you! The more, the merrier on the day of the walk, and of course we’re always happy to welcome new donors into our family of heroes!

To register, form a team, or donate visit this link: http://hcf.convio.net/communitybloodbank (Feel free to share this link with your friends and family, we need your help spreading the word!)

But wait, there’s more! The first 100 donors who register to walk will receive a custom water bottle on the day of the walk! The first 100 donors who raise $20 will receive a custom CBB Walk T-shirt! Raise $30 and receive a Highmark Walk T-shirt. Raise $50 and receive the Highmark T-shirt AND a raffle ticket!

We’re also setting up fundraising events through Mad Mex Restaurant in Erie, and Erie-Area Arby’s locations, as well as a Silent Auction. We’re also working with Park Lane Jewelry, where 50% of all jewelry sales will be donated back to the Community Blood Bank! If there’s a jewelry-lover in your life, shop here!

Thank you in advance for your support during this new adventure! Don’t hesitate to call us if you have questions or want more details! Simply call (814) 456-4206 and ask for Deanna Renaud or Nicole. We’ll be happy to help!

Our mission at the Community Blood Bank is to connect donors to patients who are in need of life-sustaining blood products in the communities we serve. As a blood donor, you already help us fulfill this mission every day. We’re asking you to share your dedication to our mission with the people in your life, and ask them to support what’s important to you.Logo
