Community Blood Bank News
Erie, PA– Tim Campbell, a dedicated blood donor with Community Blood Bank (CBB) since 1989, is set to be honored for his remarkable contributions to blood donation. Over the course of his life, Tim has donated more than 600 times, amounting to nearly 80 gallons of blood—an extraordinary commitment that has helped save countless lives in our community.
In addition to his personal dedication to giving blood, Tim has also served as a Donor Chair for CBB, a volunteer position that acts as a liaison between the blood bank and organizations hosting blood drives. Since 2012, Tim has held this role with 1st Presbyterian Church, helping to organize 68 blood drives and counting, making a significant impact on local blood collection efforts.
Tim’s dedication to blood donation went beyond regular drives—he made it his personal goal to donate every single calendar day of the year. While blood donations are limited by an eligibility window (requiring donors to wait 7 days between donations), Tim worked tirelessly to maximize his contributions. CBB even adjusted its schedule over the years to accommodate his goal, opening on holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Leap Day. His determination to reach his goal was unwavering, with his final appointment set for January 1st, 2025.
However, due to a recent diagnosis of cancer, Tim has been currently deferred from donating. Though he will not be able to complete his ambitious goal at this time, his ne goal is to recrruit as many donors as possible during his defferal period.
In honor of Tim’s lifelong commitment to saving lives, a special blood drive will be held at the Erie Donor Center on January 4th, 2025 from 9am-12:30pm where the community can come together to donate blood in his honor.
